Overtaking on the right is only allowed when the vehicle in front clearly turns left, in slow traffic where lanes are used side by side, or when directed by traffic controllers. Otherwise you overtake on the left. The CBR frequently uses this rule in exam questions.

Overtaking at a junction is usually not allowed because visibility is limited and crossing traffic has priority. The CBR expects you to wait until the junction is clear and overtaking is safe. An exception can apply on dedicated lanes, but that is rare in theory questions.

On a roundabout you indicate before you enter: right if you take the first exit, straight (or no indicator in some cases) for the second, left for the third or further. Cancel the indicator once you are in the correct lane. The CBR often tests whether you signal in time and choose the correct exit lane.

You may use a cycle lane to position for a turn only when there is a broken line and it is safe. You may not simply drive in a mandatory cycle lane to pass other traffic. On the exam, the CBR checks whether you choose the correct lane without endangering cyclists.

Choose the lane that matches your direction before the junction. If you turn right, use the right lane; if you go straight, the middle lane; if you turn left, the left lane. At the exam, the CBR expects you to position early and keep your indicators on until you have finished the manoeuvre.
