Road Markings and Their Meaning
Road markings indicate where you may drive and when you may change lanes. A solid line must not be crossed, while a broken line allows lane changes. Hatched markings are meant to 'push' you off the road and must not be driven on unless the emergency lane is open.
Traffic Lights and Their Signals
Traffic lights control traffic at intersections. Green means go, amber/yellow means stop if safe, and red means stop. Arrows on traffic lights indicate the direction you must follow. Pay attention whether the light is round (oncoming traffic possible) or shows an arrow (no oncoming traffic).
Safe Crossing at Intersections
Intersections are dangerous places where you must be extra alert. Watch traffic lights, road markings, and possible cyclists. A flashing yellow warning light does not require stopping but calls for extra caution. Traffic controllers may temporarily manage traffic.
