Shapes and Meanings of Traffic Signs
Traffic signs have different shapes, each with a specific function:
- Triangular signs warn of danger.
- Round signs indicate obligations or prohibitions.
- Square or rectangular signs indicate what is allowed.
Warning Signs (Triangular)
These signs with a red border warn of possible dangers such as:
- Road narrowing
- Two-way traffic
- Loose stones
- Dangerous curves and slopes
- Crossing children or animals
- Slippery or poor road surfaces
When in doubt, always be extra alert and follow the instructions.
Mandatory and Prohibition Signs (Round)
Blue round signs indicate what you must do (mandatory), such as a required direction. Round signs with a red border indicate what is forbidden, like no entry or no parking.
Allowed Actions (Square/Rectangular)
These signs indicate what is allowed, such as one-way traffic, pedestrian crossings, or a residential area where you may drive but must watch for playing children.
