Sign B7 is the stop sign. You must come to a complete stop before the stop line, even with a clear view and nobody coming. After stopping, give way to all traffic on the intersecting road.

What to do at sign B7

Come to a complete stop. Rolling through slowly does not count, even if you can see the whole junction.

Once stopped, look left and right and only move off when you will not obstruct anyone.

Before the stop line on the road surface. If there is no line, stop where you can see the intersecting road without already being on the junction.

Why B7 is an octagon

The octagonal shape is unique and shared with no other sign in the RVV. That is deliberate: you can recognise a stop sign covered in snow, seen from the side, or from behind.

B7 on the CBR theory exam

The question is almost always whether you may drive on without stopping when the junction is empty. The answer is no: stopping is required regardless of traffic.

Difference from B6, give way

B6 is an inverted triangle: you must give way, but you need not stop if the road is clear. B7 is octagonal and always requires a complete stop. That is the whole difference.
