About the school

Het begon allemaal met een simpele vraag van Ronalds moeder: “Is rijles geven niet iets voor jou?”. Ronald dacht erover na en besloot die stap te zetten. Na het behalen van zijn instructeurspapieren ging hij eerst aan de slag bij twee andere rijscholen om ervaring op te doen. Met die ervaring op zak, één lesauto en veel enthousiasme startte hij vervolgens vanuit de huiskamer van zijn ouders in Papendrecht zijn eigen autorijschool: Rijschool Ronald. Zo werd in 1982 de basis gelegd voor wat later Ronald Verkeersopleidingen zou worden. De rijschool groeide snel, en Ronald kon het vele werk niet meer alleen aan. Er kwamen collega’s bij en de huiskamer maakte plaats voor een echt bedrijfspand in het centrum van Papendrecht. In die periode werd naast autorijles ook gestart met motorrijles. In de jaren die volgden, groeide de rijschool verder. De rijschool vergaarde niet alleen bekendheid in Papendrecht, maar ook daarbuiten. Het aanbod werd stap voor stap uitgebreid: naast autorijlessen en motorrijlessen werden er ook aanhangwagenrijlessen aangeboden. Om deze groei te kunnen opvangen, werd het pand in 2000 grondig verbouwd. Het kantoor en de praktijkruimtes kregen een nieuwe, moderne uitstraling, passend bij een rijschool die zich steeds verder ontwikkelde. In 2002 vierde de rijschool een bijzondere mijlpaal: het 20-jarig bestaan. Twintig jaar autorijlessen, motorrijlessen en aanhangwagenrijlessen, en inmiddels een begrip in Papendrecht en de regio Drechtsteden. In diezelfde periode werd een grote stap gezet met de introductie van vrachtautorijlessen, waarmee de rijschool haar aanbod verder uitbreidde en een nieuwe doelgroep bereikte. In deze periode ontwikkelde de rijschool zich van een vertrouwde opleider voor particulieren tot een volwaardige partner voor particuliere en zakelijke klanten. In 2006 groeide de rijschool uit zijn jasje. Het oude pand werd te klein en het was tijd voor een nieuwe stap. Het werd een prachtig nieuw onderkomen, niet ver van het toenmalige pand. Sterker nog, het lag aan de overkant van de weg, nog steeds in het centrum van Papendrecht.
