About the school
Op 01-01-2000 ben ik als zelfstandig ondernemer begonnen met mijn rijschool A. Schenk Rijopleidingen te Lemiers in de gemeente Vaals. In 1985/1986 heb ik mijn instructeurdiploma voor de categorie B (auto) gehaald. Ik kon toen meteen als parttime-rijinstructeur bij autorijschool Diemant in Brunssum terecht. Maar na ongeveer 1 jaar kreeg ik de mogelijkheid om volledig als rijinstructeur te gaan werken bij auto en motorrijschool Frans Bisschops te Hoensbroek. In die tijd heb ik ook mijn instructeurdiploma gehaald voor de categorie A (motor). Daar ben ik tot het Millennium, 1 januari 2000, blijven werken. Met veel plezier. Tegen die tijd echter kreeg ik het aanbod om rijschool Pella Wouters te Kerkrade over te nemen. Ze werd al een dagje ouder en wilde het iets rustiger aan gaan doen. Maar uit de rijschool wereld stappen, nee. Dat was weer een stap te ver voor haar. Ze wilde de theorielessen voorlopig blijven verzorgen, en ook de klanten die een rijbewijs met automatische schakeling wilden halen, wilde ze nog onder haar hoede nemen. Het moest leuk blijven, zei ze. Zo gezegd zo gedaan. En zo doen we het nu nog. Al geef ik nu ook bij mij thuis theorielessen, men kan ook nog steeds bij haar terecht in de St. Bernadettestraat 31 in de Gracht te Kerkrade voor een theoriecursus. We werken nog steeds met veel plezier samen. En leuk moet het ook zijn, anders houd je het in dit beroep geen 20 jaar vol. Door de lange full-time ervaring in dit wereldje, weet ik heel goed hoe met kandidaten om te gaan. Want de leerling staat steeds voorop. Op een leuke ontspannende wijze les te geven, zonder het doel uit het oog te verliezen. Namelijk zo snel en goedkoop mogelijk een rijbewijs halen. Waarbij voor mij voorop staat dat de kandidaat straks een veilige, sociale verkeersdeelnemer moet worden. Simpel gezegd: men moet straks dus kunnen autorijden, zonder de rest of jezelf in gevaar te brengen. En dat is al moeilijk genoeg. Of niet soms?
