The score out of 100 combines CBR results (70%) and Google ratings (30%), adjusted for small samples. It uses the school's busiest exam centre for this vehicle category. The CBR lower bound of 30–70% and adjusted Google rating of 3.2–4.9 each map to 0–100. These are editorial scale thresholds. When a score is shown, the exam figures use that same centre. It is not a pass probability. Click the score for the method and centre comparison. Search order follows your selected sorting option separately.

The default evidence-based order considers pass rate and first-exam sample size: a high rate from few exams carries less weight. It uses the lower bound of the 95% Wilson interval. Sorting and exam filters use school totals across all centres. Cards with a comparison score show the ordinary pass rate at the named CBR centre; otherwise they show the school total. You can also sort by pass rate, exam count, distance, lesson price or Google rating.

Price sorting starts with the lowest known price per 60 minutes. We convert only when lesson duration is known; packages are excluded from this sort. Schools without a known hourly price appear last. Google sorting uses rating first, then review count; missing ratings appear last. Both sorts use CBR evidence scores to break remaining ties.

Distance is measured in a straight line between town centres, not from your address or to a lesson location. Town searches include mapped schools within the selected radius. Name searches can also find schools without a town match. Minimum first-exam counts and other filters still apply. Schools with a past CBR closing date are excluded. The automatic filter selects schools with automatic exam results; CBR percentages still combine all transmissions.

Car: B and B-H. Motorcycle: A, A1, A2, A-G and A2-G road-riding exams combined. Scooter: AM2, excluding microcars. Standard practical exams only. Vehicle-control tests, interim tests, adapted exams and further investigations are excluded. Retakes are separate and do not determine the ranking.

The CBR file for this vehicle category contains 7,043 schools, of which 6,827 are matched to a town. Our published data includes prices for 2,761 and Google ratings for 3,547. These are dataset counts, not search-result counts.

A pass rate cannot tell you that. Student selection and when a school books exams affect the figures. Ask about your instructor, lesson schedule, total costs and cancellation terms. Take a trial lesson before buying a package.
