- Closed to motor vehicles with more than two wheels.
C6 closes a road to motor vehicles with more than two wheels. The sign shows a car, but its legal description is broader than passenger cars alone. Establish the vehicle category concerned and read any exemptions on a supplementary panel.
What to do at this sign
Do not pass this sign in an ordinary car. A quiet road or a short intended distance does not create an exemption. Any exception for permit holders or another indicated group must actually apply to you.
Example on the road
A car and motorcycle approach C6. The car falls within motor vehicles with more than two wheels. For the motorcycle, assess the separate rules and other signs; the car symbol does not mean every powered vehicle.
Other conditions to check
Consider the number of wheels and legal vehicle category, not merely resemblance to a car. Special categories such as microcars can be subject to additional RVV provisions. Do not assume an exemption when entering a closed road.
How to recognise the sign
A circular red-bordered sign; read its symbol, text or number for the precise restriction.
Difference from C12 — No motor vehicles
C12 closes the road to all motor vehicles and therefore includes motorcycles. C6 specifies motor vehicles with more than two wheels.
