Traffic sign C16 – No pedestrians
C16

No pedestrians

Official name: Closed to pedestrians

Prohibition

Sign code
C16
Category
Prohibition
Traffic signs
Closed to pedestrians.

Closed to pedestrians. Pedestrians may not use this road; find a permitted walking route.

How to recognise the sign

A circular red-bordered sign; read its symbol, text or number for the precise restriction.

Supplementary panel and application

Read a supplementary panel as part of the closure. “Uitgezonderd” (except) with a symbol indicates an exemption; a symbol alone can instead limit application to that group.

Difference from G7 — Footpath

C16: Closed to pedestrians. G7: Footpath: pedestrians only. Read the separate application of G7 too; similar appearance does not mean identical meaning.

Practise this sign for your theory exam

No pedestrians belongs to the Prohibition category. In the CBR theory exam a traffic sign is almost never asked on its own: you are shown a situation and have to know what you may or must do in it. In the free sign trainer you practise the signs by category, with the explanation shown right after every answer.
