Traffic sign C20 – Maximum axle load
C20

Maximum axle load

Official name: Closed to vehicles with an axle load higher than indicated

Prohibition

Sign code
C20
Category
Prohibition
Traffic signs
Closed to vehicles with an axle load above 4.8 tonnes.

Closed to vehicles with an axle load above 4.8 tonnes. The value limits axle load. An acceptable total mass does not prove that every axle meets this limit.

How to recognise the sign

A circular red-bordered sign; read its symbol, text or number for the precise restriction.

Supplementary panel and application

Read a supplementary panel as part of the closure. “Uitgezonderd” (except) with a symbol indicates an exemption; a symbol alone can instead limit application to that group.

Difference from C21 — Maximum total mass

C20: Closed to vehicles with an axle load above 4.8 tonnes. C21: Closed to vehicles above the indicated total mass or combined axle load. Read the separate application of C21 too; similar appearance does not mean identical meaning.
